Is aspirin safe for dogs?
Is it Safe?
This is a common question all animal lovers ask at some point. Is it okay to give to your pets? Baby aspirin can be relatively safe for dogs provided you adhere closely with the correct dosage and you don’t use it for long-term treatment. Human aspirin can be given to dogs, but should not be used for over a maximum of 5 days. Dog aspirin also has a recommended duration of use. Be sure to follow the instructions on the bottle of the brand you choose to use, and confer with your veterinarian. Aspirin may be an option for immediate pain relief and swelling in dogs. However, paying close attention to any side effects and symptoms that may occur afterwards is imperative. Dogs cannot tell you verbally if they are having complications, therefore it’s your job to keep an eye on how they feel after taking it. It is never okay to give to cats; it is considered toxic for them.
Side Effects of aspirin on dogs
Aspirin for dogs with arthritis should not be used to treat ongoing joint problems because it contains acetylsalicylic acid which can destroy cartilage when used for extended periods of time. They do not recommend aspirin for any dogs that have a blood clotting disorder or condition that causes them to bleed easily because aspirin is a blood thinner. Caring for your pets is one of your number one priorities and we understand why. JUST A SHORT NOTE, FLEXPET IS THE GREATEST...
Flexpet has done wonders for my three dogs. My oldest dog is a very tiny yorkie/maltese puppy I rescued when she was 3 months old. She had disc problem in her back. As she got older it was painful to me to see her walk – all scrunched over and obviously in pain. She was 12 by the time I heard about Flexpet but I started her on it and in a very short time she was going on short little walks with me and looking for her dog biscuits again.
